These are busy days in the arts world. Fall seasons are underway, schools (and those students fortunate enough to have music, theater, visual arts, and dance classes) have settled back into their routines, arts markets and festivals are enjoying the promise of cooler days, and all of us as advocates should be as engaged as ever!
Advocacy is a year round endeavor–not a once during the spring legislative session undertaking. This fall especially, it is incumbent on each of us to convey to those seeking election or re-election our belief that Louisiana’s cultural economy deserves just as much attention and effort to grow as other economic sectors.
As you relish your favorite arts forms, remember how important they are to our identity here in Louisiana, our economy, our joie de vivre, our future generations and more. Remind those who set policy and decide funding that the arts help make us who we are!
Join the artists, arts organizations and committed individuals who are members of the Louisiana Partnership for the Arts Advocacy. The success of our work throughout the state depends upon a united voice saying “Art WORKS for Louisiana!”
